Colorful Little “Vintage” Coasters – Free Crochet Pattern

Crochet Round Coasters - Colorful Pattern
After making a whole lot of cowls, scarves and hats for the holidays, I was up for doing something little and bright!
I love the whole “what’s old is new again” concept, and the colors used in these little coasters seem to give off a vintage charm look.  The Modern Vintage Granny Square potholder that I posted a while back is still a favorite kitchen accessory of mine. These little vintage like coasters are really easy as well. If you can crochet in the round, and know single crochet and double crochet, you are good to go.  They also are great for using up those bits of yarns and partial skeins that you have around the house!  By the way, the teapot pictured above was given to me from my grandmother. Isn’t it cute?!

Crochet Coasters Easy Round Pattern

These actually remind me a lot of the mandala hoop wall hangings (see that pattern here) that I did with Lion Brand bon-bons a while back.

I guess I favor aqua and yellow – ha!
You will need:
Size F 3.75 mmCrochet Hook
Lily Sugar & Cream Yarn – or comparable worsted weight yarn. I used Red, Tangerine, Sunshine, Hot Blue and Ecru. ( I like using cotton for coaster because it absorbs any spills)
Scissors
Tapestry Needle to weave in ends
Here’s some pictures to help you along with the pattern below:

FOR THIS PATTERN I WILL REFER TO EACH COASTER AS FOLLOWS :
1: Red Centered Coaster
2: Red Outlined Coaster
3: White Center with White Outline Coaster
Depending on which coaster you are making, just be sure to make sure you follow the color changes for that number.  They all follow the same pattern, they just have different color changes of course. 🙂

  1. I love the “Vintage” look! It looks like something I would find in my grandmother’s home or my aunt’s and homes. They are just beautiful and fun!!

    1. Oh, I’m so glad Nadine! Thanks for letting me know. I agree, kind of like what you’d find in my aunt’s or grandma’s too. 🙂 Have a great night!

        1. This is just what I’ve been looking for. But I have sight problems and cant read the pattern easily. I’ll have to get someone to print it out larger so I can make the coasters.

  2. Love them!! I have some cotton yarn with me here at the beach! Maybe I will try making one of these tomorrow. I have been using some cotton coasters like this in my kitchen and just love them. And best of all when I do spill coffee or tea on them, I just throw them in the wash. My kitchen counters are so cold all year round I need lots of these for visitors too. Thank you!

    1. Oh, I so wish I was one a beach right now! It’s so windy and cold here – yuck. So true – love just throwing those coasters in the wash. Definitely try them out if you’d like- they are fairly mindless for your vacation. 🙂 Have a great trip Amy! 🙂
